Rules & Guidelines
Entry Focus
- Through your storytelling be clear about your message.
Focus on clear visual and audio communication of the specific entry topic.
Contest Requirements
- The same footage or script may not appear in multiple entries.
- Students may submit entries into one division only.
- Video must be shot and edited between March 1 of the prior year’s competition and February 27 of the current year’s competition.
- Work must be student-created. Adult input is advisory only.
- Up to five students may be recognized per entry.
- All Hawaiʻi schools are eligible.
- Homeschool students must obtain a faculty or advisor signature. If Youth Xchange is not offered at a student’s school, a school advisor may serve as a sponsor to provide official school representation for the entry.
Expertise Tiers
- Advanced students must enter Junior Experts or Experts.
- Experts are not eligible for Beginner categories.
- College prizes go to the institution’s program.
Deadline & Submission
- 11:59 p.m. HST, Friday, February 27
- Incomplete submissions may be disqualified.
- Submit your best export for broadcast.
Copyright & Clearances
- Advisors are responsible for all copyright clearance.
Category Minimums
- Categories with five or fewer entries may be reassigned.
File Requirements
- Team photo required (max 10MB).
- MOV, MP4, M4V only. Max size: 1GB.
- 2+ minute videos require a 10-second end slate.
- Recommended export: 1080p, H.264.
